Elizabeth Nutting graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Drama from Queen's University. After working for two years at The Banff Centre, she furthered her education at the Toronto School of Art; pursuing her dream to work as a set designer. Elizabeth is now combining her art and theatre background through her installation pieces. These pieces use theatre scripts as a springboard for her art. Elizabeth's work requires the viewers to immerse themselves within the installation, or else, much like a set on an empty stage - it will not survive without human interaction.

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have the intriguing, thrilling, riotous and unmissable comedy. The show hurtles a notorious fugitive and a spellbound blonde from a London music hall north by northwest to Scotland’s most remote highlands. Will they save Britain from a den of devious spies? A cast of 4 plays over 150 characters in this fast-paced tale of an ordinary man on an extraordinarily entertaining adventure. The 39 Steps contains every single legendary scene from the award-winning movie — including the chase on the Flying Scotsman, the escape on the Forth Bridge, the first theatrical bi-plane crash ever staged and the sensational death-defying finale in the London Palladium.

RECENT REVIEWS

For The 39 Steps:

"The actors did an outstanding job but the real hero in this production was the set in which every piece is used, sometimes for three or four different ways. It was brilliantly designed by Elizabeth Nutting. A table becomes a bed and a lectern, an apartment window becomes part of a train and bench seating becomes the back seat of a car. It’s very interesting to watch how fluidly the actors interact with the set and how easily each piece comes into play when needed."
- The Gananoque Reporter

"Elizabeth Nutting has designed a clever set that can be a study one moment at the Scottish moors the next."
 - The Kingston Whig Standard

"Elizabeth Nutting’s set is ingenious and flexible.  Basically a cut-away of a library including a library ladder, it morphs in about 30 seconds to various locations including a train..."
